A wooden handled straight pull corkscrew incorporating a Codd bottle opener. In 1870 Hiram Codd invented the Codd bottle, which was sealed by a marble held in position in the neck of the bottle by the pressure of the gas. This example is marked “Coney’s Patent” which was granted on the 2nd August 1884 No. 10,874 to Matt Perkins. Perfect helical worm. Circa 1890.
